Dibrugarh
Dibrugarh is situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra in Upper Assam, and is the gateway to the three tea producing districts of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, and Sivasagar. These three areas account for approximately 50 per cent of India’s Assam tea crop and Dibrugarh does justice to its sobriquet the ‘Tea City of India.’ Dibrugarh is also equally famous as the education hub of upper Assam.
Place of interest Dibru-Saikhowa National Park: The Dibru- Saikhowa National Park lies 13 km off Tinsukia Town and is spread over both Dibrugarh and Tinsukia Districts. It covers an area of about 340 sq. km. It is also the natural habitat for wild animals like leopard, clouded leopard, sambar, elephant, Asiatic buffaloes, Gangetic dolphin etc. Besides, about 250 bird species of local and foreign origin are also found here.
