Also referred to as Delhi Akshardham or Swaminarayan Akshardham, this extraordinary Hindu Temple complex dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan, is located on the banks ofthe Yamuna in Delhi. The main monument at the center of the complex, stands 141-foot high, 316 foot wide and 370 foot long. Built with Rajasthani pink sandstone and Italian Carrara marble, the complex is adorned with 234 intricately carved pillars, nine domes and 20,000 statues. Linder the central dome of the monument, lies a 11-foot high statue of Swaminarayan. Also within the central monuument lies the statues of other Hindu deities, includinng Lord Ram, Sita, Radha Krishna, Shiv-Parvati and Lakshmi Narayan. This temple can be viewed at its best in the evening, thanks to the vivid and magnificent lighting. Bharat Upvan (Gardens) is another point of interest for nature lovers. Akshardham can be reached by auto or bus from Indraprasta Metro Railway Station.
