RAJKOT Wankaner: Wankaner draws its name from the natural aspect associated to the site ofthe town, and is situated on a bend of the Machchhu River. About 50 km from Rajkot, on the way to Kutch, is the Palace of Wankaner, now converted into a heritage hotel. Built in 1907, the palace has many interesting features that include a spiraling marble staircase, stained glass galleries, chandeliers and period furniture. The state guesthouse, Chandra Bhavan is also located adjacenttothe palace.
Gondal: The erstwhile princely state Gondal is situated 40 km south of Rajkot and has many remains of its glorious past. It has many delights to offer tourists like the Navlakha Palace, the Riverside Palace and the Orchard Palace. These palaces are adorned with exquisite furniture and decor.
The Vintage and Classic Car Museum, has a private collection of Maharaja’s own automobiles on display. The Bhuvaneshwari Ayurvedic Pharmacy here offers herbal medicines. The Swaminarayan Mandir is a shrine situated on Yogiji Maharaj Road, and is popular for its gorgeous wall murals. The temple enshrines the images of Dham, Dhami, Mukta, Guru Parampara, Sukh Shayya and Ghanshyam Maharaj. Aji Dam Garden is one ofthe major tourist attractions in Rajkot.
